People often ask our pre-press team, what makes a file “right” for printing? Although we can work with any file you send our way, here are some things to consider when you prepare your art for printing:

  • Stick With Programs The Pros Use

To create a brochure, catalog or direct mail piece don’t try to create them in programs that are not meant for printers. Choose programs like Adobe® Illustrator, Adobe® Photoshop or Adobe® InDesign. These programs will guide and help you set up your files properly with shortcuts already built in to them. If you don’t have the resources to use these programs, let us know! We can take other files and convert them for you!

  • Talk to Us!

When you are getting ready to prep your file, give us a call! We can tell you what file type we need to run the job. Be it a high-resolution PDF or a packaged file, we can help you with the right file type for your project.

  • We Want to Help!

When you start to create your project, give us a call. Let us help make your project run smoother by allowing us to give you suggestions for printing and finishing that you might not know you can do. We have seen it all and our crazy ideas might take you to another direction and make your project go from OK to WOW!

  • Convert.

Not only to having Compton Press be your printer… but your photos! Please remember to convert your photos from RGB to CMYK before you send the files to our team.

We look forward to working with you this Fall on your next project. If you need help, give us a call – we are here to help!
